Two poles of fascination for us are peace within and peace without. There is a curious dynamic in the ongoing dialogue between Jude and myself about inner and outer peace. Jude is more hopeful about the potential for success working on inner peace. I am drawn to deep study of inner peace, and optimistic about world peace because of the relationships I see evolving in the world. From the inspiring Camp David Peace Accords of the late 1970’s, I took heart that if Egypt and Israel can reach accord, the whole world can. From that inspiration, I veered off of my path as a psychologist supporting individuals, families, and groups, the application of wisdom from these fields to the peace process and theory. I felt this move was my greatest potential to contribute to humanity. It is my conviction that the world can and will achieve Total Permanent World Peace and Prosperity (TPWP&P). It is my intention to be a part of this evolution of humanity. To that end I have spent over 30 years observing and studying human nature and how it may lead to TPWP&P. For this I have sometimes felt like the archetypal misunderstood wandered in the wilderness. I self soothe whenever I encounter inspiring words by or about those who believed good thing would come about and helped make it happen when most of the rest of the world poo-pooed their ideas. A large measure of my study of human nature is observation inwardly as well as out. One of the greatest reinforcements for my optimism about TPWP&P is the observation of the microcosmic world of the relationship of Jude and me extrapolated to the macrocosm level of the whole world. In 28 years together, our quality of life and our love for each other have increased each year. I ascribe this specifically and causally to the commitment to the practice of and ever deepening understanding of All Win. All Win is a logical extension of the popular – I’m glad it is – idea of Win Win applied everywhere to everyone and everything. Sometimes more challenging than others, but the challenges evolve the understanding and power of ourselves and the application of the philosophy. If it is true, and it is my experience that it is, that what you send out returns to you, then the guiding beacon of All Win as a light worth following is true. If your intention is to benefit all, you are more likely to be benefitted. Of course there are times when one would like to have done better at living up to this goal, yet it is far more likely to happen if one is going for it than if not. To me the idea of All Win, Everyone Wins, Everybody Wins, is an idea whose time is past coming. The great visionary Buckminster Fuller said that we, the billions of people living on the planet, could all be billionaires if we got the systems right. To me, the core shift needed in the mind set of humanity to achieve TPWP&P is to All Win. Just as humanity as a whole came to realize that slavery was wrong, it seems to me that humanity as a whole coming to the mind set that the basic core value of All Win is at the heart of TPWP&P is a self-fulfilling prophecy that will make it so. In this vein, much of what will be addressed here in Inner Peace World Peace, for my part, will be about the practical spiritual evolution of the individual as a co-creator of TPWP&P. Under the enormous pressure, most of it thankfully positive and self-imposed, of moving to this verdant place of vast opportunity, goodwill and beauty, I have reached my limits as an individual and beyond and had to evolve to expand enough to handle the blessings. I am happy to report that I am meeting with success after success, mostly due to my relationship with the I Ching and its guidance through these challenging opportunities. Suffice to say here that I have been working on my capacity to be an All Win person with great rewards when I have been able to do so. |
